Design spotlight - industrial farmhouse

We were privileged, recently, to work on a special project with one our favourite clients in the Waikato. They were building a new family residence anchored in the lush green Cambridge countryside and our brief was to help pull together interior elements.

The building echoes their philosophy for living, both the formal aspect of business and entertaining, while maintaining a close connection with the more casual side of farmhouse living, including the generous warmth of large open fireplaces.

The home, with its expansive living and vaulted ceilings, also forms the backdrop to the client's New Zealand art collection.

Italian Masterpiece

A key DSGNR recommendation was the introduction of an Italian masterpiece, the Evolution sideboard from Emmemobili, a striking piece designed by Ferruccio Laviani and handcrafted in Italy.

The Evolution isn’t just furniture; it is a statement, with its bold geometric shape transitioning to a beautifully intricate, hand-sculpted form, capturing the juxtaposition of the formal with the warmth of artisan tradition.

Placed in the main entrance of the house, it sets the tone for the home, conveying both sophistication and strength, while still adding a touch of classical elegance.

Emmemobili specialises in luxury wooden furniture crafted with exceptional attention to detail and design. Their work emphasises the natural beauty of wood, transforming it into artistic, functional furniture that stands out in both residential and commercial settings.

A worthy addition to a wonderful family home.
